Crafting Unique Wooden Treasures
Mungo and Co began in 2010, in a small Yorkshire workshop, with Hal Eccles and a dog called Mungo. What started as a simple desire to make well-designed, well-built things by hand has grown into a practice rooted in craftsmanship, care, and a deep respect for materials.
Working with sustainably sourced, local timber, Hal designs and makes bespoke furniture, kitchenware, and gifts that are built to be used and lived with. Every piece begins with a conversation — about how it will be used, where it will live, and what it needs to do — before being shaped by hand in the workshop. No two pieces are the same, and that’s exactly the point. Each carries the marks of the process and the story of the person it was made for.
Mungo and Co is guided by the belief that good design should be both practical and lasting. Pieces are made to wear in, not wear out, and to grow more characterful with time. Sustainability sits at the heart of the work, from the timber chosen to the care taken in making something that won’t need replacing.
Hal’s background in Industrial Design, along with years working with blue-chip companies and lecturing in design at the University of Teesside, informs a thoughtful, considered approach to making. But at its core, Mungo and Co remains about simple things done well: honest materials, skilled hands, and objects made with purpose.

Beyond our handcrafted furniture, we offer occasional personalised one-on-one woodworking classes designed to help individuals build skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the craft.
Our shop also provides professional furniture repair and restoration services, carefully reviving well-loved pieces while honouring their original character.
In addition, we restore and sell vintage woodworking tools, preserving the history and craftsmanship of traditional woodworking while putting timeless tools back into capable hands.
