Meet the Designer

Hal Eccles studied Industrial Design at the University of Teesside, graduating in 1997 with a grounding in materials, manufacturing processes, and the kind of practical thinking that stays with you for life.

The years that followed took him across a wide range of commercial projects — working with businesses including Flymo and Alstom, solving real problems in real environments. It was work that sharpened his instincts and deepened his respect for how things are made.

In time, Hal turned toward a different kind of making. Collaborating with galleries and artists, he designed and built exhibition stands and bespoke display environments where craft and creativity had to work together. It was here that the connection between material, form, and purpose became central to everything.

Today, that same thinking shapes every piece that leaves the Mungo and Co workshop. Timber chosen for its character. Joints cut to show the grain. Finishes that protect without hiding. Design that serves the wood as much as the person who will use it.
